![]() My question was simply if this server doesn't care what programs you run, because I know a lot of private servers do that and not care what the players are doing. I don't get what you mean by "take a firm stance" if you're in reference to me. Now, there were other programs like UOextreme that would do things like fast run hacks, allow you to delete visual presence of an item (in the case someone used a hide to cover up their reagent bag, you could delete the hide to see and open the reagent bag as a thief to steal their reagents) that were a bit beyond the spirit of the game.Īnd that's fine. It's the same equal where playing on Ultima Online private servers and pretty much all of them allow the Razor client, which was the QoL version of a 3rd party client to do things like equip/unequip weapons or last target type stuff. Stuff like speed runs don't allow it, so there's definitely an advantage to it for efficiency (which is the main scoring of speed runs). It's just the principal that they don't allow it, so I won't use it. Because I won't run them on Blizzard servers. So, because it gives such a significant advantage to be "top tier" that doesn't really make it right to say "just because guys are using it, it should be OK."Īnd that's more my question was if this was a server that promotes and/or doesn't care about map hacks. It makes the "rogue like" part of procedural generated maps more prominent. The whole variance of single player vs multiplayer is that your resetting your game instance everytime to load into a new one. It's not like you load up single player and your map is automatically revealed. But even with the map staying revealed in single player, you still need to explore the area, and then it maintains. Well then there's a difference between "map reveal" and "map hack". Play it however it is fun for you and ignore what other people are doing.ĭid you know you can put the monsters on the map by editing client files, increase your fhr/fcr/aspd, and have full screen light radius by editing client files? And bnet won't ban you for it. The game doesn't have an economy - on officials it's ruined within hours by duping and exploits, on private servers it's fractured and largely self-found play.ĭ2 is an ancient, dead game that people should play for fun. You're just playing for fun with yourself, and if playing one way isn't fun then don't do it. Anyone who takes a firm stance either way on cheating in d2 is kinda foolish. I've played d2 with and without bots/hacks, I can play and even speed run d2 just fine with no maphack. Note, I've finished high on d3 ladders without cheating. If you don't do it on officials and want to be competitive, you're going to get clowned on by all the people who do unless you just run chaos sanc and static spawn stuff. If it's allowed on a server then just do it, because you aren't cheating if it's within the rules. ![]() Whether you want to MH or not is up to you, but MH mostly stops you from wasting time once you're familiar with the game. On the pservers they at least try to police botting and cheats that harm others. ![]() On official d2 the big thing is still botting, fhr/fcr/etc hack, etc. Any high ranked 3p/4p team has at least one player using a maphack equivalent. There are a few who might not, but even a lot of the streamers do. So saying maphack isn't how the game is meant to be played is kinda questionable.Īnd in d3, nearly all the top ladder players bot+use maphacks and it has been that way since the game's inception. In single player your map stays revealed. The other features of maphacks, who cares. Like everyone who actually played the game used maphacks until they started banning, and even then people still use map reveal on officials.
